Dr. Aeriell Armas
Aeriell Armas, PhD is a bilingual Latin-American speaker, clinical research scientist, and academic content creator with expertise in clinical psychology. In response to a lack of representation in higher education, Dr. Armas created Grad Life Grind back in 2019 to help other first-generation students from historically underrepresented backgrounds apply to and succeed in graduate school. Over the last 7 years, Aeriell has transparently shared her own journey through academia and supported thousands of scholars along the way. Today, she continues to address disparities in higher education through various offerings at Grad Life Grind while also conducting clinical research focusing on intimate partner violence (IPV) and substance use disorders (SUD) among Latina women in the United States.

Outside of Grad Life Grind, Dr. Armas has worked in research and clinical settings with a focus on trauma and addressing mental health disparities for two main populations: the Latine community and women exposed to intimate partner violence (IPV). As part of her dissertation research, she explored the needs and preferences of IPV-exposed Latinas in preparation for the development of the first-ever online IPV intervention specifically tailored for Latina women. Since then, Dr. Armas has pursued postdoctoral clinical and research training, specifically to address trauma and substance use disorders among IPV-exposed Latinas.
She has been guest speaker on television, radio, and at in-person events covering a variety of topics, including mental health awareness, intimate partner violence, Latine mental health, graduate student wellness, the hidden curriculum in higher education, and the graduate school application process.
